Creating a Philanthropic Heart in your Child
All parents wonder if what they are saying to their kids is actually reaching them. Our children are like sponges and they absorb everything we say and do, whether they will admit to it or not. Even before my son was old enough to understand, we knew that he’d be watching our actions over the years and we wanted to set a good example to ensure that he was raised with a heart for philanthropy. To experience selfless giving to others without expecting anything in return and the joy it brings to make a difference in someone else’s life is a core value that must be groomed throughout childhood. Encourage your children to become part of fundraising events for charities that interest them whether it be through the act of raising money or volunteering their time, both are valuable lessons.
